My Entrepreneurship Story

My dad has explored many careers in his lifetime.  He loves the idea of creating new things and would definitely like to consider himself to be an entrepreneur.  When I was in the fifth grade, he decided to start his own company for low vision.  He wanted to sell machines to those who are not yet blind but suffer from eye diseases such as macular degeneration and glaucoma.  These eye diseases severely inhibit individuals from carrying out their lives.  With the low vision products my dad sells, he is able to give these people their life back.  These products, however, are very costly and many people do not want to spend money on them or do not see the how useful they can really be.  Being an entrepreneur comes with many challenges and that is just one of the many challenges my dad has faced while running his business.  My dad has always told me that being your own boss is the best kind of job to have so because of that advice, it sparked my attention in taking ENT3003 as well as pursuing an Entrepreneurship minor. I hope to learn what it means to be an entrepreneur and what it takes to not only come up with an idea, but to bring it to life.
